Description:
Crown of the North is situated between the years 1275 and 1340, when Scandinavia was divided into a large number of royal factions hungry for power. The game campaign puts you on a map that shows Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, divided into many small provinces, more territories of Germany and Russia along the shore of the Baltic Sea.
Early in the game, the six main playable factions only control a territory, and most of the map consists of neutral provinces just waiting to be conquered by you or one of the five other factions. Of course, remote provinces to the north begin weaker than the rich lands of nations historically established as the Hanseatic League, the Knights Templar, and the Russian territory of Novgorod, near St. Petersburg. These three powerful nations do not compete for dominance in the game, but their huge armies are an obstacle to your conquests.
