In a twisted medieval dimension, undead creatures did the unthinkable - brutally slaughtered your race. Your friends. Your family. Eliminated. But the nightmare is just beginning. Wielding powerful weapons such as the Scepter of Fire and the Staff of Hell and casting spells from the Book of Power, you should take revenge. Or die trying.
Using a modified Doom II engine, Heretic was one of the first games with possibility of turning the view not only horizontal but also vertical, and manipulate objects. Other characteristic of this game is the fact that, when an enemy dies violently, some objects appear in his place. It is remarkable that, besides the background music, the game also uses sounds and noises like devils laughing, water dripping, chains breaking, etc.. in order to enhance the realism of the environment.
